Uninstalling the PPT Software
 
 
This chapter provides the step-by-step procedure of uninstalling PPT application using the GUI-based as well as the console-based uninstallation wizard. Additionally it provides instructions for backing up all the critical files before starting the PPT uninstallation.

Uninstallation Methods
The PPT, and its adjunct components such as the Apache web server and PostgreSQL database engine, can be uninstalled using one of two methods.
 
GUI-based method: This method is the most often used uninstallation procedure. Requirements for using this method include:
Console-based method: This method is available to users who do not have an X-Windows client available for remote network connectivity to the PPT server via Telnet or SSH.
It is important to note that the uninstallation method is independent of the method used for installation. For example, even if the console-based method was used for installation, either the GUI- or console-based method can be used to uninstall the program.

Step 1
Step 2
Go to the directory in which PPT is installed (the /users/ppt directory by default) by entering the following command:
cd /<ppt_install_dir>
Step 3
Go to the /Uninstall_PolicyProvisioningTool sub-directory by entering the following command:
cd Uninstall_<ppt_install_dir>
Step 4
./Uninstall_<ppt_install_dir>
A dialog box appears welcoming you to the PPT uninstallation wizard as shown below:

Click Next. A dialog appears identifying the processes to be stopped.

Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 7
Click Finish to complete the uninstallation process.
note_smallImportant: The uninstallation process must be executed by the root user.
note_smallImportant: The uninstallation process also removes all the database entities pertaining the PPT build being uninstalled. This database can no longer be recovered too.
Console-based Uninstallation Method
This section provides instructions for uninstalling the PPT application using the console-based method.
Step 1

Go to the directory in which PPT is installed (the /users/ppt directory by default) by entering the following command:
cd /<ppt_install_dir>

Go to the /Uninstall_PolicyProvisioningTool sub-directory by entering the following command:
cd Uninstall_<ppt_install_dir>

./Uninstall_<ppt_install_dir>
-i console
A message appears welcoming you to the PPT uninstallation wizard.
